An herbal, fragrant mint, leaves of this plant are edible raw or cooked and are suitable for use in teas and cocktails. Ask our gardeners - they can attest! Just be sure not to ingest the seeds, which may be toxic in large quantities. An herbal remedy for colds and indigestion with antiseptic properties, but as always, pleas consult a doctor before using herbal remedies.

Like any mint, this perennial plant will spread quite happily from its original location, so we recommend growing it in pots if you are not prepared to give it plenty of space. If you do plant this mint directly into a small garden space, be prepared to keep it contained with hardscaping, other enthusiastic plants, or a bit of manual labor. At least you’ll smell great while gardening with this plant!

These plants were propagated at Stoneleigh from divisions collected in the garden.

Conditions: Part shade to full sun; moist to wet soil
Size: 6” - 24” tall, a wildly rhizomatous spread
Zone: 4 - 8
Wildlife Value: Flowers are highly attractive to bees of all size, pollinating flies and wasps
