How about some fun wordplay in honor of this spectacular perennial?
Have you seen the 'Holy Grail' of cup plants?
On very tall stems their daisy-like yellow flowers gently wave, while
Leaves of chartreuse or even
Yellow-gold clasp the stem,
Giving rainwater and dew a little cup to
Rest in
And be visited by thirsty creatures.
In July or August they bloom,
Lending a picturesque quality to their patch of soil and sky.
Note: 'The Holy Grail' Cup Plant boast large rosettes of foliage that emerges chartreuse and then fades to green as the plant climbs to 6 feet tall.
Conditions: Full sun; average, moist and well-drained soils
Size: 4'-8' tall, 2'-3' wide
Zone: 4 - 9
Wildlife Value: Birds eat the seeds, and birds and insects are attracted to the water held by the cupped leaves; flowers support bees and butterflies
